Camilla Boemio

Associate Curator

Camilla Boemio is an art writer and curator, who curated projects around from Los Angeles to Odessa, Ukraina. She is a member of AICA (International Association of Arts Critics). Her recent curatorial projects include the solo show: Bruno Lisi: Segno Aperto co-curated at Museo dell’Arte Classica, in Roma; and The Contemplative Edge. Il Mondo Nuovo. a performative Parallel Event with artists Mathew Emmett and Greig Burgoyne at Polo Museale Sapienza. This program has been a cornerstone of the museum. Her diverse interests in performance, contemporary art, film, and architecture, and her wide-ranging curatorial experience will continue a rich tradition of commissioning exciting, ambitious, site-specific works which challenge disciplinary boundaries and contribute to the entirely unique experience of museums of Sapienza Università di Roma.

In 2016, she was the curator of Diminished Capacity the first Nigerian Pavilion at the 15th International Architecture Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia; and in 2013 she was the co-associate curator of Portable Nation. Disappearance as work in Progress – Approaches to Ecological Romanticism, the Maldives Pavilion at 55th International Art Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia.

From 2011 to 2013, she was cultural consultant for the European Commission, developing with the DISCO department of UNIVPM, The European Project Immersion in Scientific Words Trough Arts (ISWA). For this project, she curated the group show After the Crash at Roma Orto Botanico, among which artists Trevor Paglen, Ravi Agarwal, Justine Cooper, and Donato Piccolo. In 2018, she took part in the VVM at Tate Liverpool.
